Active People Survey 7

Fieldwork for the seventh wave of the Active People Survey (APS7) began on 15 October 2012.

Rolling 12 month results for the period April 2012 – April 2013 were published on 13 June 2013.

Highlights from Active People Survey 7, Quarter 2 (April 2012-April 2013):

  • 15.3 million people played sport at least once a week. This result represents a 1.4 million increase compared with 2005/06;

  • Continuing the improvements we have seen since 2009/10, 3.9 million 16-25 year olds now play sport once a week;

  • 6.8 million women played sport once a week, 536,600 more than 2005/06;

  • 1.7 million disabled people played sport once a week, an increase of 353,100 compared with 2005/06.

    The full year results (APS7: October 2012 to October 2013) will be released in December 2013.
